in 2014 I worked on the Borden Park Natural Swim Experience, creating two large mosaics for the City of Edmonton`s new natural filtered outdoor pool. The mosaics were featured in the shower areas. The theme of this work is a “shadow pond” featuring species at risk from the local area to underscore the importance of sustainability in all types of development.
Here are the two mosaics shown separately. Made up of slip resistant glass tiles in various colours and textures to show the images. originally conceived as shower pools they were eventually integrated into the floor. An approximate 13 foot diameter for the frog and dragonfly, and 14.5 foot diameter for the turtle.
