We are all influenced by of our environment. This piece located at The Shops at Morgan Crossing in South Surrey BC, explores and celebrates how individual experiences shape our world view. The textures and images on the orb reflect a local perspective and how these personal viewpoints colour how we see the world.
Viewers are invited to investigate the different perspectives, interact and explore the various shapes, colors textures and motifs that have been engraved into the acrylic panels that represent the culture, environment and history of this area.
The images are comprised of:
The artist’s photography of the area
Map data of local natural features
Archival photographs and maps
Textures and abstract patterns
The artists’s personal drawings
The real “Wow” moment comes when visitors peer through one of the open holes into the centre. The view transform into a VR-like immersive experience that also creates a photo opportunity as multiple faces can be reflected and photographed in the central stainless steel mirrored ball.
